Hello!
I’m Dr. Despina Tsevdos
Board-certified Pediatrician. Brooklyn mom.
I became a pediatrician because I love working with children and their families. I love watching children grow, supporting them and their caregivers through every stage, and helping them reach their full potential. What I did not expect was how hard the traditional healthcare system can make that relationship, squeezing it into short appointments, burying it under screens and paperwork, and rushing it because of busy waiting rooms.
I trained at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and completed my residency at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. I have spent years caring for children across New York City as a faculty member at a large academic institution and teaching the next generation of physicians. And through all of it, it became clear that the families I served deserved more time and more access.
Maple Pediatrics is my answer to that.
After years of caring for families and raising my own children, I know how much it matters to have a doctor who knows your child and is accessible. That is what Maple Pediatrics is built around. Maple Pediatrics is where personalized, unrushed care meets the convenience that modern and busy families actually need.
There are no busy waiting rooms here. No rushed visits. No call centers. Just one pediatrician who knows your child by name and who you can reach directly.
I started Maple Pediatrics because this is the kind of care I want for my own children.
I would be honored to provide it for yours.

How I Practice
Evidence first.
I follow the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines and the current research. If the evidence changes, my advice changes with it. If I am unsure about something, I will tell you and look it up.
I will always explain the why.
You will not leave a visit with instructions you do not understand. I think parents make better decisions when they know the reasoning, not just the plan.
Less is often more.
Most childhood illnesses get better on their own. I prescribe antibiotics and medications when they will actually help. Sometimes the best plan is watching closely and checking back in, and I will tell you exactly what to watch for.
When to wait, when to call.
Part of my job is helping you know the difference between "this can wait until morning" and "this needs to be seen now." Over time, I hope you feel more confident making that call yourself.
You know your child best.
You are with your child every day. If something feels off to you, I want to hear it, and I will take it seriously.
Vaccines on schedule.
I follow the AAP recommended immunization schedule. I am always happy to talk through questions.
